  • Odisha seeks more funds for cashew unit at Rambha

    <p>BHUBANESWAR:AS the common facility centre (CFC) developed in the cashew cluster&nbsp; at Rambha in Ganjam district is facing fund crunch, the State Government has requested the Centre to release the second instalment without delay.&nbsp; The Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has provided Rs 2 crore out of its contribution of Rs 5 crore to the State in the first instalment for the CFC.&nbsp; The CFC is being developed by Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) under the Micro Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE&nbsp; CDP). A special purpose vehicle (SPV) has been set up for implementing the project.Meanwhile, the State Government has released its share of Rs 145.52&nbsp; lakh to the SPV. Work on the CFC is virtually stopped due to paucity of fund, sources in the MSME Department said. The issue was raised by the State Government at the steering committee meeting of MSE-CDP held on June 23. Time extension till&nbsp; December 30, 2016 has been given for completion of the CFC. MSME Secretary GK Dhal has written to the MSME Development Commissioner for release of the balance Central assistance of Rs 3&nbsp; crore for timely completion of the project. The Rambha cashew cluster CFC was approved under MSE-CDP in 20112-13. Of the four CFC proposals, the one at Rice Mill Cluster at Bargarh has been completed. The Ministry has approved setting up of CFCs at Bargarh, Ganjam and Brahmagiri in Puri district.<br></p>
