• Support for cashew producers in Ivory Coast

    Dec 2nd, 2019

On the occasion of his state visit to Hambol, President Alassane Ouattara announced in Katiola that in order to improve the income of producers, the Coton-Anacarde Council and the Group of Exporters of Agricultural Products (GEPPA) have proceeded to the removal of 200,000 tons of cashew nuts at a price of FCFA 375 per kilogram set by the government. In addition, the fall in prices of cashew nuts was compensated for by a remunerative price of cotton. And this, by a 21 billion FCFA grant by the state for the 2019 campaign, according to the government statement. Both products, he recalled, share the same geographical area. In addition, the Director General of the Coton Anacarde Council, Adama Coulibaly, indicated that the Ivorian Center for Cashew Technology (CITA), intended for the training of stakeholders in the sector, will soon be inaugurated.
