<p></p><p>The Guinean government will soon begin reaping the benefits of exported cashew as it pursues plans to put 500 tonnes of cashew kernels at the disposal of local farmers growing the produce.Government sources said central to the plan is extending land reserves for the sector from 45, 000 to 200,000 hectares. <br></p> <p>The production of cashew nuts will cover 17 prefectures, the sources said, adding that in a bid to boost the sector, the Guinean government has banned all exports of cashews outside the Port of Conakry.” <br></p> <p>The Guinean government intends to benefit from a foreign currency windfall through the export of the produce. This arrangement will be applied to other agricultural produce including coffee and cocoa. <br></p> <p>The Guinean authorities have set nearly CFA500 as the baseline price for a kilogram of cashew.<br></p><p></p>
