<p></p><p>Mr. Dewie’s Cashew Creamery, makers of hand-crafted, small-batch cashew milk ice cream, is opening its third location on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. Fans of its unique vegan flavors, like Chocolate Orange Chip, Turmeric Spice and Caramel Almond Crunch, should be able to get their fix soon and the companies eyes a March opening. The shop will be located directly across from the Piedmont Theater.</p> <p>At any given time, a Mr. Dewie’s shop offers up to 15 flavors, including classics like Strawberry, Vanilla and Coffee. They also sell housemade gluten-free and vegan ice cream cookie sammies, bon bons, chocolate chip cookies, hot fudge, caramel sauce and gluten free waffles cones.</p> <p>The vegan creamery, which has locations in Albany and Emeryville’s Public Market, was founded by Berkeley natives and brothers Ari and Andrew Cohen in 2011. The Cohens wanted to create a creamy and rich ice cream that met their personal dietary needs of being free of dairy, gluten, and soy.</p> <p>The Bay Area responded in droves, making pilgrammages to its first location in Emeryville and stocking up on pints at natural grocery stores, including Berkeley Bowl, El Cerrito Natural Grocery Company and select Safeway stores.</p><br><p></p>
