He had petitioned revenue officers several times, seeking a title to the land. When the revenue officers rejected his plea, he petitioned the tahsildar.In March, revenue officers sent him a notice, asking him to vacate the land as it belonged to the gram panchayat and that the cashew crop grown would be auctioned. A shocked Anand reportedly went to the DC's office on Wednesday and consumed poison.Chikkaballapur deputy commissioner MV Venkatesh said Anand never met him to seek redressal of his grievances. He told TOI that on April 20, he was receiving petitions from a group of farmers around 1.15pm. Anand landed there suddenly and started raising slogans that revenue officers had done injustice to him.The officer said Anand was illegally cultivating land identified as gokunte. He had petitioned authorities to regularize the illegal occupation, but revenue officers had rejected his plea in 2014 as the land of a water body cannot be granted to any person as per directions of the Supreme Court.<br></p>
