  • Cashew nuts: Ivorian excellence

    <p></p><p>You open your baking trays or aperitifs ... But you probably know that cashew is a genuine agricultural issue and perhaps for many industrial countries like India, Brazil, Vietnam ... And it is an African country that is, for the first time, the largest producer this year: the Ivory Coast. <br></p> <p>Ivory Coast was already the world's leading cocoa producer. Since this year, that's king of nuts ... cashews. The northern provinces of the country in particular allow it to be a leader in cashew, the fruit of a tree that has supplanted rubber or even cotton with Ivorian farmers who find a stable source of income and security, while global price of rubber or cotton fiber regularly the yoyo on the stock exchanges, cashew nuts, it offers an assurance of income that go increasing from one year to another. <br></p> <p>Thus, the purchase price to the farmers set by the state is 350 CFA francs (0.53 euro) per kilo for harvest in 2016 against 275 FCFA (0.41 euros) last year. Ivory Coast is expected to achieve a harvest of 725 000 tonnes to India, with 650 000 tonnes; Vietnam it is third with 325,000 tons.</p><p>International demand is strong and steady and is even local operators in Ivory Coast who plan to include cashew powder in their process. <br></p> <p>Thus Cémoi chocolatier that transforms a small portion of cocoa locally considering replacing the rare and expensive nut in its spread by local cashew and cheaper.
