<p>In Loxton, South Australia, the Centre of Excellence for the Australian Almond Industry was officially opened in December. Almonds are one of the largest and fastest growing horticultural sectors in Australia, with the industry having a gross production value of $960 million. The Centre, home to the Almond Board of Australia (ABA), is located in the redeveloped Loxton Research Centre.ABA chief executive officer Ross Skinner said the opening was an important step towards providing a world class facility for the almond industry.<br></p>
