The cashew nuts supplied to the Indian soldiers will now be bought from Kerala. An agreement has been made between the Central and state government on this. Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given an assurance in this regard to State Cashew Industry Minister J Mercykutty Amma.Mercykutty Amma has urged the union govenment that the cashew nuts be bought from public sector institutions so that the deal benefits the cashew sector.Nirmala Sitharaman has told the state minister that within 15 days, a decision will be taken on signing an agreement to buy the processed cashew nuts from the public sector institutions like Cashew Development Corporation and CAPEX.
