Prices are skyrocketing, but Vietnamese businesses are still spending 10,700 billion VND to buy a type of nut in just two months. This item is pouring into our country from an African country. Meanwhile, cashew nut imports from Tanzania jumped to 187 million USD, a sharp increase of 175%, nearly 3 times the 68 million USD figure of the same period in 2024. In addition, cashew imports from Indonesia also doubled, making this Southeast Asian country the fourth largest supplier to the Vietnamese market. In fact, to maintain its position as the world's number 1 producer and exporter of cashew nuts, for many years Vietnamese businesses have had to rely on imported raw materials from countries in Africa and Southeast Asia. In recent years, Cambodia has emerged as the second largest cashew capital in the world, and is also the largest source of cashew nuts for Vietnam. Last year, Vietnamese businesses spent 1.07 billion USD to "purchase" nearly 820,000 tons of raw cashew nuts from this market.
